I am very happy I did, it has some of the most satisfying movement and gravity I've experienced in VR. It's real floaty so when you hit something at speed you launch into the air, and when on the ground you're moving quite fast. There aren't a whole lot of people playing and the matches are P2P, so if you connect with someone far away there will be lag. That said, the bots are actually pretty fun to play against (they're pretty brutal on hard mode). The developer is very active in Discord and in-game and seems to be pretty cool about suggestions as well as fixing bugs and issues. I'm pretty excited to see where this game goes and I'm glad I bought it.. I am in no way an expert on VR multiplayer (played Arizona Sunshine, Raw Data, Payday2 and some others), but I can see what makes this one unique. The locomotion system does exactly what the game description says. You are able to move at high speeds, peform jumps, mid-air corrections and epic landings without feeling any of the kind of motion sickness you'd expect. According to the devs, it's related to your brain anticipating the directions and intensity of those movements, sort of like the fact you can't tickle yourself etc. Whether this is the case, the truth is that it works, and lets you navigate the arenas with something much more fluid than a teleport.Gameplay-wise, I can see that it's an early access game, but the core gameplay seems to be extremely polished. Rather than making a mediocre game with a ton of content, it's obvious the effort has been put in making a fun game that is very playable and has the potential to have more content added later on. Probably a wise idea that will pay off in the long run.I have played quite a few matches, and the "capture the orb" type of gameplay mixed with that old-school deathmatch feeling just works for me. Disclosure: I participated in the closed beta for the game and was given a free copy for it.If you were a fan of shooters like quake, tribes and unreal tournament, and have been looking for a vr shooter that moves as fast - I highly recommend this game.Oval provides a really fun and fast paced first person shooter experience with quick fluid motion and high flying acrobatics. So far, the gameplay is pretty basic with a capture and hold game mode with a few weapons available. The main feature is the locomotion system which has you hovering on skates and using thrusters on your elbows to direct your motion. The hover skates let you move around pretty fast and with momentum and with the designs of the official maps, you can use this momentum to zoom around and even fly above opponents while you shoot them. Additionally, on your off hand, you have a booster which gives an extra thrust in the direction you point your controller, allowing for quick changes in direction or just more speed in the direction you're already moving. Together, this locomotion system allows you to go really fast, make really cool moves and get a great arena FPS feeling, without feeling motion sick! The developer has been very responsive in discord and takes a lot of suggestions from the community and implements them very quickly. At this stage, I have had a lot of fun playing and foresee a lot more fun in the future with more maps and game modes to come. The developer has also implemented a skill tree with different abilities. So far, I find that these give you a few options for different achievements and playstyle without giving players with more hours superpowers. So far, they are pretty well balanced.In all, a great little shooter with a lot of potential for growth especially with user created maps.. Man, this is slick!I looks great, plays great, moves great and the gameplay is a whole lot of fun. It eally looks and feels like a major studio has been involved in this. Movement is similar to Lone Echo - only faster. In the same way as that game, movement is intuitive and sorta tricky ( but in a fun way).I used to play Tribes and UT a hell of a lot back in the day - this is basically Tribes in VR!Not many people around for multi-play, as I got it when it had just beeen released (so this is to be expected) - and I have not played for long myself - but long enough to know that this is something special. Frankly, if this does not gain traction as a MP game, we have to scratch our heads and wonder about the future of VR, and whether MP is viable at all in VR. I say this, as it does not come better than what we have here. For this reason I am pretty confident that there will be a strong player base over the long term.Now an admission - Although I used to play a lot of MP FPS back in the day, I rarely do so now, not only because of all the yapping toxic kids you have to put up with these days, but more importantly, as you get older, you have to face some facts of life - my reaction speed is not what it was - I will simply get destroyed and let down any team unfortunate to have me on board - not my idea of fun. Secretly, I think a lot of people feel like I do - as the adoption of VR is by an older demographic. Take heart! I played a few matches just against bots - it was *incredible* fun - so much so, that I whipped of my headset after just a few rounds, just to give a shout out for this. The bots are well implimented and act intelligently (well, far more intelligently than I do!). What I am saying here, is that if you do not like MP games, this is the MP game for you! Even with bots it is stupid fun. I hope this takes off for the devs, they have a solid and polished game here already, but whatever happens, I know I will be playing this for sometime.
